Gary Coats works closely with the equine veterinarians at WVH to provide corrective and therapeutic shoeing. It is an effective relationship as Gary can review and discuss radiographs, MRI imaging and specialty imaging that WVH offers on site to provide specific shoeing recommendations targeted to your horse’s specific needs.
Gary has been shoeing horses of all types for 36 years now. He has 12 years’ experience on the track riding and shoeing race horses. Gary shoes horses with a variety of problems including laminitis, navicular, ring bone and specialty shoeing for all types of performances horses.
For fun, Gary enjoys team roping, and has been roping for 55 years. Originally from Nebraska, Gary has now lived in San Angelo for 23 years.
Andy Lumpkin is Gary’s right hand man, and also his son in law. Shoeing with Gary for 5 years, Andy is fast becoming highly trained in the corrective and therapeutic shoeing craft. Originally from Mississippi, Andy has competed in Team Roping since he was 13 years old. He also likes to play golf and spend time with his family, especially chasing his young son around.
